Dates
Thursday June 5
Time: 2 pm to 6 pm (directly after the gold medal water polo match)
Theme
United by Water
Details
Pink Flamingo has been one of the most anticipated events at the IGLA+ Championships over the years. This year, we are going to build on the past and mix it a bit up by adding Pink Flamingo fun relays to the event. Our goal is to bring the entire IGLA+ community together in a fun way in the water, regardless of which sport they compete. The theme for this year’s Pink Flamingo and fun relays is United by Water.
Run of Show:
2:00 - 2:25 pm Teams get organized
2:25 – 2:30 pm Welcome
2:30 - 3:00 pm Pink Flamingo Team Skits
3:00 - 3:45 pm Pink Flamingo Fun Relays
3:45 – 4:00 pm Closing: Awards, Recognition, and Thank Yous
4:00 - 6:00 pm IGLA+ Annual Meeting
The Pink Flamingo performance will work the same way as it has in the past.
-
Teams will organize a skit, keeping the theme in mind. There must be at least one element on the pool deck and one in the water.
-
Teams should keep the performance to a maximum of five minutes.
The Pink Flamingo Fun Relays will work like this.
-
Any IGLA+ 2025 DC athlete can participate in the Pink Flamingo Fun Relays
-
Pink Flamingo organizers will assign athletes to relay teams
-
Pink Flamingo organizers will be deliberate so that each relay team will have athletes from different sports and geographies
-
There will be up to 8 Pink Flamingo Fun Relays; the number of relay members will depend on how many people sign up
-
Each team will have a captain
-
Each leg of the relay race will be 25 yards
-
-
Any athlete choosing not to participate in the PF Fun Relays can join the cheering squad in the viewing area for each of the 8 relay teams
-
The proposed relays will be:
-
Relay #1: swim with inflatable rainbow unicorn
-
Relay #2: two-swimmer relay where one person pulls, the second person kicks
-
Relay #3: swim wearing blue jeans (you will need to bring your own blue jeans)
-
Relay #4: swim carrying a plastic martini glass with a rubber duck. If you “dump the duck”, you must stop and retrieve the duck, before you continue swimming
-
Relay #5: kick while holding a pride or trans flag in one hand.
-
